Confirmed Line-Up

Bad Manners

Bad Manners are fronted by Buster Bloodvessel , the band was formed in 1976 while the members were at school together, and among their early incarnations were known as Stoop Solo and the Sheet Starchers. They were popular during the late 1970s and early 1980s, a period when lots of similar ska bands filled the charts. Some of their hits include "My Girl Lollipop", "Lip Up Fatty"," Ne Ne Na Na Na Na Nu Nu", "Special Brew" , "Lorraine", "Just A Feeling", "Walking In The Sunshine" and the "Can Can". One of the main reasons for their notoriety was because of their outlandish, larger-than-life, huge tongued & shaven-headed front man. Buster's exploits got them banned from the British TV chart show Top of the Pops (which included dressing as Henry VIII and singing to a blow-up doll for the song "Lorraine", pouring a large can of baked beans over his head, and dressing in a can-can dancer's dress to promote their single "Can-Can")

Dr. Meaker

Bristol's Dr Meaker is a producer who, with his 8-piece live band, presents one of the most exciting live dance acts in Britain right now. Having previously been signed back in 2001, Clive Meaker has taken a new approach to music writing. Using soul, jazz and reggae influences to produce the Meaker sound, Dr Meaker makes music which has commercial appeal whilst remaining true to it's underground roots.

This unique sound is taken to a live audience with an ensemble that includes Bristol's finest musicians, some of whom have worked with the likes of Bugz In Attic, Kosheen, Roots Manuva, Kasabian and Massive Attack amongst others.

Dr Meaker's debut single "Moving And Grooving" is an uptempo dance track with soul vocals, acoustic guitars, heavy breaks and double bass all rolling across a gypsy jazz backdrop. Mixed by Howie B (Soul II Soul, Bjork) and mastered by John Dent (Bob Marley, Zero 7) Moving And Grooving is set to be a hit. The B-Side, "Touch My Heart" is an uplifting dance track with emotive strings, and an intimate vocal sung by Lorna King.

The band have been rocking Moving And Grooving across the country in their live set and if the roar of the crowd at Glastonbury is anything to go by, it'll only be a matter of time before we start seeing and hearing a lot more of this record and Dr Meakers talent.

The Scrub

Bristol-based 7 piece outfit The Scrub have been building a strong local following around the West Country for a couple of years now. They play highly addictive and uniquely dark old school, two tone ska, with moderate lashings of hip hop and skacore thrown in for good measure.

Formed in 2005, Longshots are fronted by one of the best Jamaican singers in the area, backed by a superb line up of experienced musicians, whose passion is to bring you the authentic sound of the Caribbean. Powerful vocal performance combined with rock solid drum 'n' bass and wicked guitars and keyboards creating the music to get your body moving and your spirit grooving.

Tragic Roundabout

Five musicians and a drummer, their talents finely honed to bring you a dazzling show of the most excellent calibre incorporating an eclectic melange of hardcore punked up Ska/Klezmer blended with an unsubtle hint of mystic Eastern Bloc.

Los Albertos

Since their formation in late 2002, Los Albertos have been creating a frenzy upon the dance floors and grassy fields of Europe with their inimitable foot-stompin', brass-blarin', and rip snortin' high energy blend of ska, punk, funk, dub and original beats. Drawing upon a peculiarly twisted English humour (where The Comic Strip meets League of Gentlemen) this six-piece throw in some dynamite horn, guitar and drum action and invariably you end up with a band firing on all cylinders and on top of their game. It's dance music, Jim, but not as we know it…

Imperial Leisure

Imperial Leisure are a phenomenon: a ten-piece band playing their own particular blend of hip-hop, ska and rock music, complete with live brass section, keyboards, DJ, two MCs and a singer, who have been mates since North London secondary school, and in some cases, primary school. Their music is a killer combination of great beats, great tunes and irresistibly memorable lyrics.

The Anomalies

The Anomalies have been making tunes and touring together for the best part of 3 years, a group of musical minds who create their sound using a plethora of influences from swing and big band to indie and old school hip hop. They recently supported Dan Le Sac vs, Scroobius Pip on a very successful UK tour and had Radio 1 airplay with the track 'Employee of the Month. Their new double A side single 'The Hand That Lights My Cigarette' and "Bamboo Beats" was released in February 2008.

Babyhead

Babyhead's unconventional approach tells you they aren't your average band. Like talented kids in a musical sweet shop they want to mix and match, sticking a dedicated horn section beside infectious heavy dub bass and ska across a hip-hop backbeat (and some funk-focused finesse). Then they'll spit out a layer of lyrical dexterity to improve the brew. Babyhead offer a unique sound with glittering showmanship and unadulterated energy. That's why this eight-piece band is rapidly generating a huge live following.

Smerins Anti-Social Club

The last couple of years have seen the welcome return of live music to the dance scene and club-goers have found the added presence of real musicians behind the grooving rhythms a real bonus. The ingredients are fairly straightforwards - tight and punchy playing, perhaps some blaring brass, a bit of showmanship, energy and taste. There's an emerging scene of bands that get the recipe just right and Bristol-based Smerins Anti-Social Club are one of the finest. Originally launched by a residency at Southampton's Talking Heads club, their big band format developed a sound that pulled ska, funk, reggae and drum'n'bass together into a seriously hip-shaking fusion delivered relentlessly to a very crowded dancefloor. It was too big a sound to stay local, however, and the last two years saw them move to Bristol and begin touring nationally and doing the festival circuit
